Hosted by Dr. Sam Agnew, Dr. Doug Hanel, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, presents the dilemma of choosing the best possible treatment for wrist fractures. These injuries, called distal radius fractures’ in medical terminology, are exceedingly common, but can lead to significant lasting disability of they aren’t treated with good understanding of principles and options. His lecture is followed by Dr. Keith Mayo, Clinical Professor of Orthoapedic Surgery, University of Washington, who discusses scapula fractures. The scapula (or shoulder wing bone) has been a challenge to treat due to its shallow configuration. Dr. Mayo presents a systematic approach to injury assessment and nonsurgical as well as surgical treatment options.
