Resumen
Las citoquinas pro-inflamatorias y proteínas morfogenéticas óseas se estudian por separado y generalmente considerados como elementos de diferentes mundos, la inmunología y la biología del desarrollo. Varas y sus colegas informan de que estos factores muestran diafonía en sinoviocitos con artritis reumatoide. Ellos muestran que las citoquinas pro-inflamatorias no sólo estimulan la producción de proteínas morfogenéticas óseas, pero que estas proteínas morfogenéticas óseas producidas endógenamente interfieren con los efectos de las citoquinas pro-inflamatorias en sinoviocitos.
